 Smooth running machineThe Regional Council is the deliberative assembly of the Franche-Comté. With its regional councillors it resolves the major questions, votes the most important decisions for the future of the Region and decides the means to implement them. Who governs the Region?Since its creation in 1982, the Bureau composed of the President and his Vice-presidents decides on the main lines of regional policy and supervises their implementation. They examine the dossiers submitted at the Plenary Assembly or the Permanent Commission and accompany and direct the efforts of the different services. This very effective system guarantees that a project is followed through from its birth to its setting up on regional territory. Youngest of Regional Government BodiesThe Regional Council of the Franche-Comté in its present form came into being in 1982, following on the laws for decentralization. Its field of action increases as the State progressively hands over responsibilities. Having the authority and being specialized in the domains judged essential for the future of the region, its competencies are extending progressively. Lire la suiteThe Presidency: the executive voiceThe Presidency is elected for a period of six years by the Regional Councillors and is the executive organ of the Region. He is the official representative of the France-Comté and his role is to convey regional identity at national and European level and to further its sphere of influence. Lire la suite43 Conceillors for the RegionThe Regional Council is composed of 43 councillors representing four different political groups. The Bureau, formed by the President and his vice-presidents, decides on the main outlines of regional policy and ensures their implementation. Throughout the course of its activity it regularly attends Plenary Sessions and Permanent Commissions. Lire la suitePorteurs de projetsThe Regional Administration has the responsibility of preparing the dossiers and of preparing and putting into effect the decisions of the Regional Council. It is placed under the authority of the President of the Region and is overseen by the General Director of Services.
