Etienne Oehmichen, engineer (1884-1955)![]() An engineer of the Ecole Central des Arts et Manufactures, Étienne Oehmichen spent 30 years in Valentigney, in the Montbéliard region where he set up his workshop in association with Peugeot . An expert in the fields of electricity, aerodynamics and zoology, he invented the helicopter, based on the precepts of a new science, anatomical mechanics, and, in 1924 , performed the first kilometer in a closed circuit at Arbouans in the Doubs. He is also the inventor of the compressed air cannon, the dynamo, dipped headlights and the car starter… A scientific contribution ignored by many but which continues to inspire modern industry. |
